A tripping breaker needs diagnosis first
A breaker may be doing its job when it trips. An overloaded circuit, faulty appliance, damaged wiring or loose connection can be responsible; replacing the breaker alone may not solve the problem.
For example: if a breaker trips when a microwave and toaster run together, the circuit may be overloaded. If home-office outlets lose power whenever a portable heater runs, tell us that pattern. These clues help with diagnosis; they do not prove the breaker is faulty.

Repair, replacement or a new circuit?
Circuit repair
Correct a diagnosed wiring, connection or device fault when the breaker and remaining equipment are suitable.
Breaker replacement
Replace a confirmed faulty or unsuitable breaker with a compatible device, after checking the panel and circuit.
Additional capacity
Repeated overloads may call for a dedicated circuit. A larger breaker is not a shortcut to more power.
Standard, AFCI and GFCI protection
Standard breakers provide overcurrent protection against overloads and short circuits. They do not provide the same protection as an AFCI or personnel-protection GFCI.
AFCI protection detects certain hazardous arcing conditions to help reduce electrical fire risk. Repeated AFCI trips need investigation rather than bypassing the protection.
GFCI protection helps protect people from electric shock caused by ground faults. A dual-function breaker combines AFCI and GFCI protection.
Required protection depends on the circuit, proposed work and locally adopted code. We assess the installation in your Massachusetts or New Hampshire community instead of applying one rule to every existing home.

Do not repeatedly reset a tripping breaker, remove panel covers or touch equipment to check whether it is hot. Keep away from damaged or wet electrical equipment. For smoke, fire or immediate danger, leave the area and call 911. Otherwise, call our office to explain the issue and confirm service availability.
What happens during your service visit
Tell us which rooms or appliances lose power, what was running and whether the trip happens immediately or after several minutes. Mention any recent remodel, addition or new appliance, and whether the interruption affects refrigeration, a sump pump or your home office. Share photos or equipment details you already have; you do not need to open the panel.

Explain the options. Review the recommended repair, compatible parts and pricing before you authorize work.
Plan the interruption. Explain which circuits need to be off and any parts, permits or inspection requirements.
Complete and check. Perform the agreed work, check operation and review circuit identification and next steps.
Compatibility, cost and panel condition
The right fit is more than physical size. Breaker type, rating and approval for the specific panel matter. Manufacturer instructions and any applicable classified-breaker compatibility list must support the selection. We do not increase a breaker rating to stop tripping without assessing the circuit and conductors.
What affects the price? Diagnosis time, breaker type, parts availability, access, wiring corrections and panel damage affect the scope. AFCI, GFCI, dual-function and main-breaker work can differ from a standard branch-breaker replacement. We explain the proposed work and price after assessment.
Does the whole panel need replacing? Not necessarily. A localized fault may be repairable. Deteriorated internal components or a lack of suitable parts may require panel replacement. Increasing service capacity is a separate decision; see service upgrade options.

Does a tripping breaker always need replacement?
No. An overload, appliance fault, wiring problem or loose connection may be responsible. We diagnose the cause before deciding whether the breaker needs replacement.
How long will the power be off?
The interruption depends on the circuit, panel condition and work involved. We explain which circuits must be off and the expected schedule after assessment. Main-breaker work may require broader shutdown and utility coordination.
Is a permit required for breaker replacement?
Requirements depend on the work and local authority. We confirm the applicable permit and inspection requirements for your Massachusetts or New Hampshire property before proceeding; a small job should not automatically be assumed exempt.
Can you install a larger breaker to stop tripping?
Not as a shortcut. The breaker must be appropriate for the conductors, equipment and circuit. We assess the load and wiring; the solution may be a repair or a separate circuit rather than a higher breaker rating.
What is the difference between AFCI and GFCI protection?
