Start with your car, your mileage and your parking space
Charge for the miles you drive
Your usual daily mileage and overnight parking time matter more than the highest number on a charger’s box. A suitable lower-current installation may cover your routine without using the equipment’s maximum output.
Put it within easy reach
We consider the charge-port position, how you park, cable reach, door movement and the wiring route. The cable should reach without strain and stay clear of walkways and vehicle paths.
Tesla, ChargePoint or another home charger?
We install compatible customer-selected equipment. These are useful options to compare, rather than a recommendation that one model suits every car.
Tesla Wall Connector
A hardwired home charging option with up to 48 amps / 11.5 kW output at 240 volts. Check the exact connector version against your vehicle’s inlet before ordering.
Suitable for indoor or outdoor mounting. With Wi-Fi and the Tesla app, you can manage charging schedules and view usage.

A hardwired option combining a NACS handle with an integrated J1772 adapter. It can be useful when a household has vehicles with different compatible AC charging inlets.
Rated up to 48 amps / 11.5 kW, with indoor/outdoor mounting and Tesla app scheduling. We still verify each vehicle’s compatibility.
Universal Wall Connector detailsChargePoint Home Flex
Available with J1772 or NACS connectors. Configurable from 16 to 50 amps; output up to 12 kW at 240 volts when the installation supports it.
Hardwired and suitable plug-in options are available. Plug-in charging is limited to 32 or 40 amps on the specified 40- or 50-amp circuit; 48- and 50-amp charging requires hardwiring. Home Flex supports app scheduling and indoor/outdoor use with the specified installation.

Can your existing electrical system support it?
An EV charger does not automatically require a new panel or 200-amp service. We assess the existing service, equipment condition, circuit space, household loads and proposed charging demand before recommending work.
Where suitable, options may include a dedicated circuit at an appropriate charging current or compatible load management. An approved load-management system can limit or pause charging as other household demand changes. Equipment compatibility, installation requirements and your charging needs guide that choice.
If equipment replacement is warranted, learn about electrical panel replacement. If more supply capacity is needed, our 200-amp service upgrade page explains that separate scope. Replacing the panel alone does not increase the electrical supply to your home.
Check incentives before buying equipment
Charging-installation support is different from a rebate for purchasing an EV. Start with the electric utility on your bill, your installation address and the exact charger model.
Massachusetts: verify the utility’s current terms
National Grid: Its current residential EV Charging Upgrade application lists December 10, 2026 for eligible work and applications. Single-family participants generally need a qualifying plug-in vehicle, a compatible vehicle or charger connection and at least 12 months in Off-Peak Charging. Different rules apply to shared parking and some multifamily properties; enhanced support has additional rate, address and vehicle-price restrictions.
Check National Grid’s program and current application and terms. This is a reimbursement process; confirm eligibility and remaining funding before spending.
Unitil Massachusetts: Ready2Charge requires project approval before charger purchase or installation, qualified equipment and Off-Peak participation for at least 12 months. It applies to eligible Massachusetts residential electric customers in single-family or two-to-four-unit homes, with separate income-qualified provisions. Review Unitil’s requirements before ordering.
Funding is limited and not reserved by requesting an estimate. Confirm the administrator’s current funding, eligible expenses and application requirements before buying equipment or starting work.
Eversource and Southern New Hampshire
Do not apply a Massachusetts utility offer to a New Hampshire address. Eversource customers should verify current equipment, installation and managed-charging programs directly for their service address. Check directly with Eversource.
Unitil lists an EV time-of-use rate for eligible MA and NH residential customers. That is a billing option, rather than an installation rebate. A dedicated EV meter arrangement, installation costs, fees and a 12-month commitment can apply; compare the full cost first.
Federal charger tax credit
The IRS lists June 30, 2026 as the final placed-in-service date for the Alternative Fuel Vehicle Refueling Property Credit. A new installation after that date is outside the credit’s stated service-date window. Read the IRS guidance.

Already purchased a charger? We can assess it for installation.
Send the make, model, connector type and installation instructions when requesting your estimate. We check whether the equipment suits your vehicle, intended location and electrical system. A charger you already own may be suitable, but we cannot promise to install every model or reuse an existing receptacle without checking it.
If you are pursuing an incentive, check its purchase and preapproval rules first. Prior equipment purchases can affect eligibility.
What happens after you request an estimate?
Share a few useful details
Your address, vehicle, usual parking location, charger choice and preferred timeframe. Photos of accessible equipment labels can help; never remove electrical covers to take a photo.
Understand the installation
Our office arranges the appropriate next step. Discuss the electrical assessment, location, circuit, equipment, permits and written scope and price before authorizing work.
Confirm the details
After you approve the scope, confirm access, scheduling and inspection arrangements. Installation includes checking the agreed setup and explaining its configured charging limit and operation.
Estimates for planned installation work are free. Troubleshooting an existing fault is a separate diagnostic service with applicable charges. The office confirms the visit type and any fee. An online request does not confirm an appointment.
Home EV charging questions
Do I need the fastest charger available?
Not necessarily. Choose around your vehicle’s AC limit, daily mileage, time parked at home and assessed electrical capacity. Paying for a higher-rated unit does not make a vehicle accept more power than it supports.
Is hardwired or plug-in installation better?
That depends on the equipment, desired charging current, location and applicable requirements. Hardwiring avoids a separate plug-and-receptacle connection. A plug-in setup needs the specified suitable circuit and receptacle; an existing dryer or garage outlet is not automatically suitable.
Can the charger go outside or at a detached garage?
Often, with equipment rated for the environment and an appropriate wiring route. We assess mounting, weather exposure, cable management and the electrical supply. A detached garage may require more wiring or trenching.
Can two cars share home charging?
Tell us whether both cars need to charge at the same time. A suitable location may let one charger serve either parking position at different times. Multiple chargers and compatible power management need a separate capacity and equipment assessment.
Does scheduling qualify me for a utility incentive?
No. Setting a timer in your car or charger is different from enrolling in a utility program. The utility may require a compatible connection, account verification, data sharing and ongoing participation.
How long will installation take?
Timing depends on the circuit, wiring access, equipment, approvals and inspection arrangements. We discuss the expected work and schedule after assessment rather than promise the same completion time for every home.
